Guardian Malaysia Celebrates 50th Anniversary

July 24, 2017

Guardian Malaysia is happy celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, this exciting and colourful 50-year journey as filled with interesting milestones, amid intensifying competition from traditional and new channels, Guardian Malaysia has drawn up plans to stay as the market leader. Taking into consideration the speed of technological innovation that is disrupting consumption habits, the intensifying competition from traditional and new channels, their priority is to ensure all the shoppers get the best shopping experience and best offer.

Mr. Soren Lauridsen, Chief Executive Officer of Guardian Health And Beauty Sdn Bhd, (Guardian Malaysia) outlined these plans at a press conference today, at the Weld, the location where its history began.
“This would involve various research to further understand customers’ lifestyle and needs better. It would also involve a BFF (BEST FRIEND FOREVER) training programme, whereby we will send our staff from Store Support Office to the stores for three days, to better understand how to serve customers better.”
“And to find out what would help them shop better and longer, when they step into Guardian at any time,” he added.

Nonetheless, at the 50-year milestone, their goal is first and foremost to be a friend to their customers, and to serve their needs. Like a friend, whom they would turn to for health and beauty needs.
Be to truly understand customers’ wants and needs, like a best friend would!
Following the press conference, Mr. Lauridsen relaunched the Guardian, Weld, now a store with a trading space of 1,652 square feet, and has just been re-furbished to sport the new look, in line with the rebranding of Guardian.
In this regard, it is running an anniversary promotion, in partnership with Petron, Jotun, the Makeover Guys and Kuvings, that gives shoppers the opportunity to win a home makeover package. A home makeover definitely will benefit not just one customer but the entire family.

To participate, customers need to spend RM10 and above in a single receipt at any Guardian store, fill up personal details, and answer three simple questions. Or, spend at Petron stations a minimum of RM10 on RON 95, RON 97 or RON 100, with a valid Petron Miles Privilege Card.

For Guardian Malaysia, anniversaries are also traditionally celebrated by giving back to the community, through its Anniversary Charity Project. This year, it is continuing this tradition by helping 10 charity homes, including seven orphanages, around the country to get a makeover.
The project, to be completed in six months’ time, is expected to help improve the living environment for at least 500 children in these homes.
